The PTP is a group of Morris parents who are organized to contribute to our school's many activities throughout the year. They hold monthly meetings where they plan events like Spirit Days, our spring festival, Family Fun Night, and Santa's Secret Shop. Participation by all teachers is welcomed and encouraged. This organization enhances school activities for children by providing funds for additional supplies and materials and special programs.
The parent involvement policy at Morris Early Childhood Center is one that provides a variety of opportunities for parents to be involved. Parents and children are invited to a "Meet Your Teacher" event before school starts so that they may become familiar with the school, the child's classroom, and the child's teacher. Once the school year has started, families are welcomed to Morris through an Open House in September where they can learn about their child's instructional program from their child's teacher. Also, during the month of October, the first parent conferences are held so that parents may talk one-on-one about specific educational programming for their child. Flexible scheduling of conferences is encouraged to support parents to come for conferences before school and at night so that it does not conflict with their work schedule. Other parent conferences are held throughout the year at the request of either the teacher or the parent. Parents provide volunteer service in the school by assisting in classrooms, fundraising, strategic planning, mentoring, assisting in the instructional kitchen, cafeteria, and on field trips.
